Snooker round-up: Trio setting the early top tier pace in Spalding and District League

Three teams boast two wins from as many games in Division One of the Spalding and District Snooker League after Thursday night’s fixtures.

Bourne SC A lead the way by a point after their 6-0 success at Holbeach C.

Star man Mark Gray (O105) enjoyed himself in that one with solid breaks of 41 and 38 before finishing up with a 25 clearance.

Consti E and Services C also have 100 per cent records after two rounds, with the former also 6-0 winners over Sutton Bridge A despite Shane Balding’s (O56) breaks of 25 and 20.

Services, meanwhile, dispatched hosts Pyramid D 5-1 thanks to wins from Shane Cummins (O21), Jordan Philpott (R14), Nigel Cherry (O7) and Kev FItter (O21).

Elsewhere in the top tier, a 37 break from Jason Green (O56) couldn’t stop Pyramid C losing 4-2 at home against Donington C.

Mike Knight (O28) also impressed with a 34 break as Services A beat Pyramid A 5-1 in Spalding.

In Division Two, Consti G, Services D and Holbeach F all boast back-to-back wins.

There were also two close clashes as Holbeach B edged out hosts Donington A 4-2 thanks to Charlie Mullane’s (R14) win in the penultimate frame. Barry Haynes (O7) made a 29 break in that clash for the victors.

Likewise, a final frame victory from Jeff Collins (R7) helped Services B defeat Consti B 4-2.

Down in Division Three, Donington D are unbeaten after a 5-1 home triumph over Consti D. Frame wins came from Paul Whyte (R14), Geoff Harris (R21), Ken Staples (R14) and Pat Taylor (R14).

They are being matched by Whittlesey C, who were 4-2 winners at Pyramid E.

Three sides were 5-1 winners on the night, starting with Donington D as they brushed aside Consti D.

It was much tighter as Consti J defeated Boundary B by the same score, with four of the five frames going to the final black.

Donington B were the other big winners, seeing off hosts Consti A 5-1.
