Snooker round-up: Super 92 break by Pyramid ace Lester is the new best of the season

Lester Gaunt produced a stunning 92 clearance for Pyramid B in Division Three of the Spalding and District Snooker League on Thursday night.

Gaunt, who plays off a handicap of O49, now has the best break of the season so far – given that the exploits of ex-pro Mark Gray aren’t eligible.

Pyramid B were unable to build on his heroics, though, as they lost 4-2 to Consti A as Nigel Steadman (R7) won the final frame.

Gaunt was also on sensational form a few days earlier as his second-placed Pyramid B side beat leaders Consti I 4-2. His breaks of 64 and 42 helped get the job done and blew the title race wide open.

Third-placed Gosberton B lost 4-2 at Gosberton C with James Elliott (O7) making a 25 break.

Up in Division One, leaders Pyramid A were handed a 5-1 reverse at Donington C.

Ben Wrigglesworth (O21) settled that one in the fourth frame on a re-spotted black.

Holbeach C gained ground on them with a 4-2 success at Sutton Bridge B, thanks to victories from Dan Ashton (O7), Nick Edwards (R7) and Damo Lewis (R7).

Third-placed Services A slipped up 4-2 at Consti B, for who John Keeton (O7) made a cool 25 clearance.

Elsewhere in the top tier, breaks of 35 and 24 from James Sharpe (O49) helped Pyramid D defeat Holbeach D 4-2.

Also on-song was Jason Green (O63), with the cue ace claiming breaks of 32 and 27 for Pyramid C.

However, his side were beaten 4-2 at basement side Consti G.

In Division Two, it’s as you were at the top as the leading duo both won 4-2.

Bourne SC C fended off a tough challenge from Holbeach E to keep their title bid alive, with Adam Braybrook (O7), James Kingston (O21) and Jack Chilvers (O21) getting the wins.

Sutton Bridge A matched that by seeing off hosts Holbeach F.

A 22 clearance from Thomas Horspool (O49) clinched that contest for the title hopefuls, who stay level with rivals Bourne SC C.
