Snooker round-up: Pyramid D rise to top of Division One after Tulips B’s derby loss

There are new leaders in Spalding and District Snooker League Division One after previous table-toppers Tulips B suffered a second successive defeat.

Tulips B, after a number of weeks at the top, slipped to second after a 5-1 beating by club mates Tulips A – who are now only six points off the summit themselves.

Brett Maddison (O7), Mike Sampson (O14), Jake Pettit (O7) and Martin Anderson (O7) got the job done for the A team, with the latter pocketing a 22 break.

That allowed Pyramid D to assume command at the top by a three-point margin after they defeated Boundary B 4-2.

Bourne SC B are now third, level on points with Tulips B, after they saw off Services C 5-1. Mark Gray’s (O105) 24 break was the highlight.

Also on winning form were Consti B, who edged past Donington C 4-2.

In a game that saw Donington’s Mat Turner (O21) make a 30 break and team-mate Neil Reynolds (O49) reel off a 25 clearance, it was Mick Johnson (O35) who settled the contest in Const’s favour.

Elsewhere, a 20 break from Paul Daw (O28) couldn’t stop Holbeach D losing 4-2 at Services A and Mark Gregory (O28) sank a 22 break to steer Holbeach C to a 4-2 win over Long Sutton A.

In Division Two, Consti F are six points clear at the top following their 4-2 triumph at Pyramid C. The first three frames proved key for them, with Bryan Turnell (R14), Roberts Adams (O14) and Warren Peel (scr) settling the contest as early as possible.

Second-placed Boundary C lost ground after a 5-1 defeat at fellow high-fliers Tulips C.

The Spalding side are now third, six points off second place, following their superb showing.

The best break at this level came from Barry Haines (O7), who made a solid 35 as Holbeach B won 5-1 at Sutton Bridge A.

Also 5-1 winners were Consti H, who saw off Gosberton A as Olly Turner (O21) starred with a 27 clearance.

At the bottom, Long Sutton B are now eight points adrift after losing 5-1 at Whittlesey C, although two of their frames wins went to the black.

Down in Division Three, Bourne SC B have opened up an eight-point lead at the summit after a 4-2 triumph at Services D.

Second-placed Pyramid B edged past Consti D 4-2, while a 22 clearance from Steve Jennings (O28) helped third-placed Whittlesey A prevail 5-1 at Whittlesey B.

Consti J were also on-song as Nick Keeble’s (O35) 25 break helped them defeat friendly foes Consti I 5-1, while Donington D won by the same score at Consti E.
