Snooker: Craft-y win for league leaders Gosberton D

Gosberton D’s Jack Craft kept them right on track for the Division Three title in Spalding and District Snooker League.

Consti A skipper Pete Law got his side off to a winning start, beating Shane Davies 66-37, but Paul Whyte and Simon Slinger put the league leaders back on course.
Paul Kent’s win for Consti A levelled things up at 2-2 before Craft beat Adam Braybrook to net Gosberton D four points.

Boundary C did their promotion hopes no harm at all with a stonking 6-0 result at Consti J.
However, it wasn’t quite the whitewash which the scoreline suggests, with Mick Andrew coming from behind to win on the black ball and Andy Whiting edging by Stu Davies 65-56.

Meanwhile, Whittlesey B moved off the foot of the table with a 4-2 win at Long Sutton C.
That came 24 hours after Sutton C had dumped Division One side Holbeach A out of the Knockout Cup, Jem Merrison the only winner for Mick Ayres’ side.
Replacing Whittlesey B at the bottom of Division Three are Donington D, who suffered from a Consti C rout.

It was comprehensive 6-0 win for Pat Bowman, Graham Howard, Chris English, John Walker and Mick Peet, with four of the five games being settled by at least 29 points.
Colin Andrew went closest to snatching a point for Donington D.

Up in Division One, second-placed Tulips B exerted the maximum pressure on leaders Services A.
They returned from third-placed Donington C with all six points.
The biggest winning margin was from Ady Sibley (R7), who saw off Neil Reynolds (O49) 94-62.
Reynolds found the handicap too hot to handle, but did manage a 23 break.
Alfonso Palumbo wrapped up a nice 5-1 win for Pyramid B against their A side with a 27 clearance.
Victor Rouse grabbed the A side’s solitary point, a 20 break helping towards reaching three figures.

Consti F were also big winners, managing a clean sweep at home to Services E.

Meanwhile, Holbeach A recovered from their Knockout Cup exit with a 4-2 success at Boundary B.
Steve Oakes (with a 22 clearance) and Daniel Smith got the home side’s points, but Bobby White, Mick Pearl and Jem Merrison – on the black ball – secured the overall victory.

Crowland C are finally off the mark this season, with back-to-back wins on consecutive nights last week.
They followed up a home win over Pyramid A with a victory at Sutton A, both 4-2 results.

In Division Two, Services C had the rub of the green baize in winning all three games which went to a black-ball finish against Consti G.
Nigel Cherry’s finish completed a 25 clearance, with Jordan Philpott and Kev Fitter the other beneficiaries.

Bottom side Services B closed the gap on one-from-bottom Gosberton A, with an eye-catching win.
The Spalding side earned four points at second-placed Pyramid C.

That was happening as Gosberton A were losing 4-2 at home to Boundary A.
