Sleigh was roaring success

A host of local charities have benefitted after Santa Claus’ 100 mile trek around Spalding.

Every year the Spalding Lions help Father Christmas go round the town visiting as many children as possible in the run up to Christmas.
Volunteers walked alongside him taking collections for charity.
Two members, Nigel Gedney and Rodney Maltby, went on every leg of the journey, both clocking up 100 miles each.

Representatives from the groups that benefitted visited a meeting of the Spalding Lions recently to be presented cheque. Members visited others who were unable to attend.
The groups to benefit were: Spalding Flower Parade, Pinchbeck Guides, SENSE, LIVES, Phab South Holland, Donington Community Fire Station, Flinders Founders, Tonic Health, Cowbit Rainbow Brownies, Coun Andrew Woolf (chairman’s charity) and his wife Wendy, Moulton Youth Football and Little Miracles.
Julie Grant, second vice president of the Lions branch, said: “Spalding Lions want to thank each and every one of the representatives who came out, in all weathers, to bring joy and of course Santa to the residents.”
As well as Spalding the Lions branch also covers Pinchbeck, Surfleet, Quadring, Donington, Weston, Moulton and Cowbit.
