Long Sutton’s relentless charge towards the South Lincs and Border League Division One title continued on Saturday with an emphatic ten-wicket win over hosts Welby Cavaliers.
Rob Simpson (4-17) and Raj Sangha (4-15) were both on fine form to help dismiss the home side for just 77 in 36.2 overs. The other wickets went to Barry Stanway (1-23) and Dan Oldfield (1-7) as Sutton’s choice to field first bore fruit.
In reply, skipper Phil Barnes and Adam Wright each made a score of 36 not out to ease Sutton to 78-0 in 16.4 overs.
That secured another 20-point haul for the league leaders, who host mid-table South Holland rivals Moulton Harrox on Saturday (1pm).
Harrox go into that game fresh off the back of a five-wicket defeat against Belton Park. They made 108, with Andy Goodley (27) top scoring before Dan Reynolds’ unbeaten 50 steered the visitors to 112-5.
In Division Two, Long Sutton 2nd thrashed Spalding Town 3rd by 206 runs. Andrew Wright’s amazing unbeaten 111 and James Wright’s 78 steered Sutton to 259-5, before Andy Shaw (5-21) helped skittle Town out for 53.
