Six-y showing seals top title as Tekkers bow out of Voice League in style

A simply superb final night of action on the Spalding and South Holland Voice six-a-side League saw Tekkers crowned Division One champions and Posh Old Boys bag second place in Division Two.

Tekkers managed a convincing 6-1 victory against relegated Horse & Groom to secure the title on the final day, while title-rivals and defending champions Polishborough were held 1-1 by a stubborn Evolution outfit.

The top tier got under way with the big game of the night at Surfleet’s Glen Park – and Tekkers made no mistake.

There was to be no final-day nerves as they played in a professional and confident manner and wrapped up their second title. Division One player of the season Billy King lapped up man of the match (MOTM) – his 12th in 24 games.

Tekkers actually bow out as champions, with the team now leaving the league as worthy winners.

Polishborough knew the title was beyond them as they went into their game with Evolution, so knew pride was the only thing at stake.

Clearly frustrated and downtrodden, they could only draw against an Evo side that had Jason Chilvers as MOTM.

Game three saw The Squad fail to show for their final game and gift You’ve Got No Fans a 5-0 win to finish the league in third spot. The Squad have now left the league.

Next up, Notinmymums Forest earned a 2-1 victory over Univeg Team to climb into the top eight and earn a place in next season’s Premiership (see end of story).

Chris Hall was MOTM as Forest finish with three wins on the spin.

Relegated Mirror Signal Malouda finished with a 3-2 win over Simple FC in an end-to-end and enjoyable tie.

Reece Snade was MOTM for MSM, who will be called Romasexuals next season.

Football Club brought the curtain down on the top tier games with a 5-0 walkover win, with East Europa having left the league the previous week.

Division Two got under way with in-form Tekkerslovakia seeing off Dynamo Kiev 2-0 to complete a stunning month of results.

They’ve conceded just three times in the final five games and had Matt O’Brien as MOTM.

Mail Carters then confirmed they would avoid the wooden spoon by strolling to a 4-0 win in their game against the How Far Can You Swim? lads.

Carters’ Lee Hilton grabbed MOTM in what was a comfortable victory for his charges.

Meanwhile, FC Salad Fingers concluded their campaign in dazzling form with a wonderful 7-1 win over The TBME. Liam Lachasseigne took the MOTM honours.

Sarah’s Boys versus champions Puyol Pants Down and Bowlcut Wanderers FC versus Posh Old Boys then played at the same time, with second place up for grabs.

It went to the Posh lads, who smashed Bowlcut 6-1 thanks to a MOTM show from Martin Ward.

Sarah’s Boys were held 2-2 by Puyol and actually slip to fourth. Cameron Walker was MOTM in that one.

The final game of the night and season saw Nibblesborough beat Balotellitubbies to pinch third.

Harry Ledger was their star man and took MOTM.

  • Leisure Leagues have taken the decision to split the league into three divisions.

The top eight from Division One will form an all-new Premiership, while the bottom four of the current Division One and the top four of Division Two will become the new Championship. That leaves the the bottom eight of the current Division Two, which will become League One.

It is hoped the move will create the most competitive league experience possible and to avoid ‘walkovers’ and one-sided results.
