Tutor groups at the South Holland Post 16 Centre rose to the challenge of raising money for charity during the summer term.
Emma Barlow’s group opted for the Make A Wish charity which funds giving children with terminal illnesses the chance to have a wish come true.
One of the students – Jade Hewitt – carried out a very challenging sponsored silence for seven hours during a college day and managed to raise £208.05.
Mrs Barlow said: “Jade should be very proud of her efforts. She is studying health and social care and is hoping to go on and practice as a paediatric nurse.
“I’m sure with her level of determination that she will go on to succeed and make a wonderful nurse.
Jade is pictured presenting a cheque to Simon Cross from Make A Wish during the college assembly.
Simon told the students on his visit all about the charity and how the money would be used.
