A £500 cash prize is being offered to encourage shopppers into Spalding and Holbeach town centres in the next two months.
South Holland District Council is launching the Shop Local Prize Draw from 9am on Monday November 8 with over 50 businesses taking part.
The scheme, which is funded by Spalding and Holbeach’s Town Centre Improvement Plan budget will run until the end of December.
It will aim to encourage footfall in the winter months and assist the recovery of the two town’s highstreets and town centres.
To get involved in the Shop Local Prize Draw, shoppers will need to collect a Prize Draw Booklet from one of the participating businesses, which are listed on the Council’s website, and will have a Shop Local Prize Draw graphic in their window.
Every time a shopper spends a minimum of £5 at one of the participating businesses, they will receive a stamp, and once they have collected three, they can drop the completed booklet off at their town’s designated drop-off location to enter their name into the draw for a chance of winning £500!
Winners will be chosen at random, with draws taking place for both Spalding and Holbeach in November and December. To enter the November draw your booklet must be submitted by 4pm on November 29, and for December the cut-off is 4pm on December 29.
Shoppers can enter multiple booklets if they wish, and all entries submitted after the deadline will not be counted. Completed entry cards must show all three stamps clearly marked, along with a name and contact telephone number written on the back.
Coun Rodney Grocock, portfolio holder for Spalding town improvement, said: “I am delighted that we are able to launch this new initiative in the run-up to Christmas, and hope it will provide a welcome boost to our retailers as we enter this crucial period for their recovery after the pandemic.
“There are such a fantastic variety of local, small businesses in our towns, and hopefully the chance to win £500 will give residents the incentive to put down the laptop, get out and about and explore them for themselves.”
Coun Nick Worth, portfolio holder for Holbeach town improvement, added: “It has been great to see so many businesses join the Prize Draw across Spalding & Holbeach, and I am pleased the Council has been able to extend its support following the initiatives we had on over the summer months.
“It’s so important that we support our local retailers, and hopefully the chance to get a welcome financial boost ahead of the inevitable festive bills will get new people out in our towns and shopping local.”
