Sheep and sunshine combined to make a baa-lmy weekend all round at Unique Cottage Studios, Spalding.

The weather was a real bonus for the fifth annual sheep and wool day – held to highlight the many crafts associated with sheep and wool.

Carolyn Goodwin, owner of the Low Fulney studio, said: “We had a fantastic turnout for the day and it really was a family day out with something for everyone.
“Our small flock of sheep were being shorn throughout most of the day and this was quite a highlight for visitors.

“Many of the traditional skills associated with wool were also being demonstrated and lots of people had a go at spinning, felting, weaving and knitting.
“Our new café/gallery had an exhibition of sheep and wool themed works of art and also served a sheep’s milk feta cheese in one of the salads.”

Visitors were also able to take part in other craft activities including stained glass taster sessions with Strawberry Glass, pottery painting with Doodles and clay sculpture in the pottery studio.

One other highlight of the day was the first public performance of the newly-formed Spalding Children’s Choir.
Carolyn said: “Despite first time nerves and the sound of sheep bleating in the background the children gave a wonderful performance which everyone enjoyed.

“We are always pleased to see visitors to the studios and if anyone would like to see our plans for future events or workshops please look at our website or call at the café for a leaflet.”
