Shed opens its doors again

The Long Sutton Men’s Shed is now back in business opening its doors again for the first time since March 2020.

The group set up to help alleviate loneliness meet at Silverwood Tea Rooms near Long Sutton.

The club has also had a literal boost thanks to Western Power Development providing them with a brand new power source for the reopening.

The club’s Frank Heinrich-Tiller said: “We had 20 members attend our first session and they all agreed that it was great to be back.

“It had been such along time to be away from the Shed, which is seen to be a safe haven and great place to go to meet up with fellow Shedders have a good old chat over a cuppa.

“Meanwhile we are starting the work to clear up the mess of 12 months lack of use, repair a few leaks in the greenhouse roof and continue the work on doubling the size of the Shed.

“We are hoping that we can complete the expansion work over the next few weeks or months and then we will be welcoming all of our 62 members back together with as many new members as possible, as our capacity will then be well over 100 members.”

The club hopes from June 22 it will begin again to meet from 9.30am to 1pm Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
