Scintillating second half showing boosts Tigers

A brilliant second half performance from Holbeach United on Saturday put them right in the Thurlow Nunn Division One North play-off picture.

Five sides are separated by just two points in the race for the last chance to be promoted.
That’s after the Tigers beat another of those sides, Harwich and Parkeston 4-2 on Saturday.
The Tigers took the lead through a fine team move finished well by Tom Hoyle.
The Essex side levelled before the break thanks to a brilliant volley from the edge of the area by Tyler Sullivan.
Early in the second half Hoyle scored his and his side’s second, coolly finishing with the ball bobbling around the box. He then turned provider slotting in Ryan Cook down the left who also finished brilliantly.
The points were sealed by Will Barnes’ nice curved finish before Jamie Eades grabbed a consolation for Harwich that Holbeach felt had been cleared off the line by Luke Nicholnson.
Manager Danny Clifton said: “It was a fantastic second half performance.
“We were a different class and there was only one team in it.”
The result had moved Holbeach ahead of Harwich, but a 3-1 win over Needham Market U23s on Tuesday put the Essex side back ahead.
The Tigers visit Needham on Saturday before hosting Whittlesey Athletic on Easter Monday in a 3pm kick off.
Tigers: Rigby, Nicholson, Cook, Ling, Harris, Carter, Thorne, Hoyle, Compton, Frost, Barnes. Subs: Yambasu, Vieira, Greenacre.
Attendance: 282.
