Saturday football: Tulips snatch late point, Tigers out of FA Vase and Pinchbeck back to winning ways

Spalding United netted a last-gasp leveller to secure a 1-1 draw at Stocksbridge Park Steels on Saturday, while Holbeach United suffered a 2-0 FA Vase defeat at Godmanchester Rovers and Pinchbeck United bagged a 2-0 home success over Peterborough Northern Star.

Starting with the Tulips, they looked set for another defeat in Evo-Stik NPL Division One East when Litchfield fired hosts Stocksbridge in a 1-0 lead on 77 minutes.

But Spalding grabbed a point when they notched from a corner in the 90th minute to secure a share of the spoils – but they still drop to 19th in the table as a result.

In the FA Vase, Holbeach exited in the third round after late goals from Godmanchester’s Joe Furness (72) and Austen Diaper (83).

Meanwhile, first-half strikes from Ryan Oliver and Tony Edwards secured Pinchbeck a 2-0 triumph against Northern Star at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.

The victory ends the Knights’ three-game losing streak in the Future Lions UCL Premier Division and moves them up to fourth in the table.

Elsewhere, holders Moulton Harrox were knocked out of the Lincs Junior Cup after going down 2-1 at Tetney Rovers.

In the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division,  Holbeach United Reserves were 2-0 winners at Leverington Sports, while Tydd also picked up a 4-2 triumph at ICA Sports.

But Long Sutton Athletic went down 1-0 at Netherton United and Sutton Bridge United were beaten 4-1 at Ketton.

All results to follow.
