Saturday football: Spalding United officially safe after draw, Pinchbeck lose but seal fourth and Holbeach are held

The final day of the non-league season saw Spalding United secure their Evo-Stik NPL East Division status with a 0-0 draw at Belper Town, while Pinchbeck United and Holbeach United clinched fourth and fifth places in the Future Lions UCL Premier Division respectively.

Starting with Spalding, their stalemate in Derbyshire was enough to seal 18th place in the league, four points clear of the drop zone.

Rivals Carlton Town were hammered at Marske, so any result on the day would have seen the Tulips safe.

Meanwhile, a goal from Tony Edwards couldn’t stop Pinchbeck losing 2-1 at home to Oadby Town in their final league game of their debut season in the UCL’s top flight.

Despite the defeat, the Knights finish in fourth place – and they now have the Hinchingbrooke Cup final against Godmanchester Rovers to look forward to on Wednesday night (Peterborough Northern Star FC, 7.45pm).

Holbeach finish their campaign one point back in fifth spot after they were unable to break down hosts Leicester Nirvana and were forced to settle for a 0-0.

The Tigers still have the League Cup final against champions Daventry Town to come on Bank Holiday Monday (Kiln Park, 3pm).
