Saturday football round-up: Garrick double sinks Spalding United, Holbeach United’s game postponed

Two goals from Tom Garrick sentenced Spalding United to a 2-1 defeat at Lincoln United on Saturday, while Holbeach United were left kicking their heels.

Starting with the Tulips, they failed to build on last weekend’s whopping 7-3 victory as they slipped to a narrow loss at the Sun-Hat Villas Stadium.

Garrick netted the opener just before the break, only for James Hugo to score a stunner on 50 minutes to level the scores.

Parity only lasted for 14 minutes, with Garrick grabbing his second to settle the derby duel.

The defeat sees Spalding stay 16th in the table, but they are just three points off the bottom.

Meanwhile, Holbeach United saw their game at Eynesbury Rovers postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

They saw rivals Pinchbeck United jump above them in the Future Lions UCL Premier Division table after they beat Cogenhoe United 2-1 (see report, here).

Down in the ChromaSport PDFL, Moulton Harrox are eight points clear at the top after thrashing Oakham United 5-1.

Holbeach United Reserves also hit five as they defeated basement side Polonia 5-2 at Carter’s Park, while Tudd beat Ketton 2-1.

However, Long Sutton went down 3-1 at home to Thorney.
