Saturday football: League losses for Tulips and Tigers, Harrox mauled by Lions

Both Spalding United and Holbeach United suffered league losses on Saturday, while Moulton Harrox were handed a home humbling by one of their title rivals.

Starting with Spalding, they slipped up 2-0 against Worksop Town at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field – ending their fine run of form in BetVictor NPL South East.

Second-half strikes from Lynton Karkach (55) and Craig Mitchell (78) sank the Tulips, who saw their lengthy injury list finally catch up with them.

Matt Easton’s side fall to seventh in the table, but have still enjoyed a strong start to the season.

Holbeach, meanwhile, lost a Uhlsport UCL Premier Division thriller at Leicester Nirvana 4-3.

Goals either side of half time by Nick Jackson and Jon Fairweather put the Tigers 2-0 up, but the hosts battled back to make it 2-2.

Jonny Lockie then fired Holbeach 3-2 up, but a penalty for the hosts levelled matters before a late winner was bundled home by the hosts.

Danny Hussey’s side slip to seventh as a result.

In the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division, defending champions Moulton Harrox were beaten 4-1 at home by Stamford Lions and fall to third in the table as a result.

Staying in the top tier, goals from Jordan Keeble (2), Tom Coote, Charlie Parks and Michael Bailey gave Holbeach United Reserves a 5-0 win over Oakham United, while Tydd lost 4-1 at much-fancied Peterborough North End Sports.

On Friday night, Long Sutton picked  up an impressive 3-3 draw at FC Parson Drove.
