Report crime to policing teams

South Holland residents are being urged to report criminal behaviour as well as sharing it to social media.

Police are continuing to prioritise drug use and supply within The Suttons area after positive feedback.

“Thank you to everybody who has let us know about drugs within our community,” says a recent newsletter from the neighbourhood policing team.

“Please don’t expect someone else to inform us about drug use, dealing, cannabis – please report this to us yourself if you care about your community and want us to help you,” adds the newsletter.

“It appears that members of our community are happy to post on social media regarding ongoing antisocial behaviour and crimes, and not inform us via 101. Please call to report issues. If we don’t know we can’t help.”

Two cannabis grows were discovered at Sutton Bridge and Sutton St James at the back end of last year, with enquiries ongoing.

As a result, the local policing priority around drugs is continuing for another three months.

South Holland District Council is also urging people to report issues including fly tipping.

“I’d like to remind people to report issues. It’s important it’s reported to be actioned so the authorities can review issues,” said Coun Gary Taylor, portfolio holder for communities and facilities.

“As a councillor, I often get contacted by people with issues and they’ve often not reported it.”
