Two teenage members of Spalding Golf Club have been called up to their respective East Midlands Regional (EMR) squads.
Lois Williamson has been selected for the under-18, EMR Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence through England Golf, which offers players the opportunity to gain nationally recognised NVQ qualifications.
This two-year training programme recruits 40 players nationally – and Williamson is the only girl selected.
Meanwhile, Mathilde Kedzlie has been selected to join the under-16 EMR squad through England Golf. This is a one-year programme recruiting 150 boys and girls nationally.
- Ladies’ section results: October Medal – 1st Angela Roper 74; 2nd Susan Matthews 76; 3rd Jenny Wilson 76.
- At the club AGM, Chris Vickers stepped down as lady captain after a very successful year in which she raised over £3,000 for her designated charity. The new captain is Paula Brown, who will be supported by vice captain Hannah Thorold.
Also at the AGM, a special presentation was made to Pat West for her considerable achievements over many years. Elizabeth Holbrook, Spalding’s lady President, did the honours.
