Queues at filling stations despite no fuel shortage

Motorists have been queuing at filling stations around South Holland despite there being no shortage of fuel.

A few garages in other parts of the country had reported problems with fuel deliveries which sparked an immediate burst of panic-buying and queues have been growing longer all morning.

At Applegreen, on the A16, the pumps were busy from first thing, with queues growing and cars on the service road leading to the complex.

There were also long tailbacks from the Morrison’s garage in Spalding and other outlets also saw huge numbers of people refuelling their vehicles.

Fuel giant BP yesterday announced it was having to ration a few of its stations because the HGV driver crisis was creating logistical problems.
