Joan celebrates 102nd birthday

The oldest of a family of five generations has celebrated her 102nd birthday.
Joan Stanhope, of Spalding, reached the amazing age on Tuesday and celebrated the special occasion with visits from family and friends.
Joan was born in Wisbech in 1919, one of 13 children, of which three are still alive.
After leaving school, Joan went into nursing and moved to Spalding where she met and married Loo Stanhope.
Joan worked as a nurse at the Johnson Hospital and had three children, Sidney, Margaret and Alan.
Joan’s great granddaughter Vickie Andrew said: “It was lovely to celebrate with Great Nanny.
“She lives at St John’s Care Home, where we know she’s the eldest resident but we wonder if she’s the oldest person in Spalding?”
