Purring Pinchbeck United upset title hopefuls Coates

Pinchbeck United put the skids on Coates Athletic’s ChromaSport Peterborough League Premier Division title charge with a 2-1 victory at Knight Street.

Adam Abell and Mark Lovelace both bagged for Ian Dunn’s side to keep them in the mix for a top three finish.

Also aiming for something similar are Moulton Harrox, who won 5-0 at Uppingham Town. Braces from Billy King and Ian Bradbury, plus a Bobby Patterson effort, move them up to fifth in the table.

At the other end, Crowland Town jumped out of the drop zone with a 2-0 win over Riverside. Teddy Paling and Stephen Wells struck to earn them a first win since December 20.

Holbeach United Reserves replace them in the bottom two after a 2-1 loss at Langtoft United. John Smith got the consolation for Omar Joof’s men.

In Division One, Long Sutton Athletic dropped into the bottom two after going down 3-1 at Warboys Town.

Samuel Moses got the sole goal for the Magpies.

Moulton Harrox Reserves, however, boosted their survival bid with a welcome 3-1 win over Langtoft Reserves at Broad Lane. Louis Steadman and Tom Coote were among the scorers. Also winners were Sutton Bridge United, who beat Netherton Reserves 2-0 with Matt Eaton and Ben Partridge on target.

In Division Two, a double from Aaron Cooper fired Pinchbeck Reserves to a 2-1 success at Ketton Reserves, while Corban Oldham’s brace earned Crowland Reserves a 2-2 draw at Wittering.

Elsewhere, Division Three side Spalding Town are into the PFA Junior Cup final after Martin Sandall’s strike sunk Coates B 1-0. Back in the league, Tydd St Mary were held 2-2 at PL United despite strikes from Michael Ocock and Phil Franklin.

All three South Holland sides lost without scoring in Division Four, with Long Sutton Reserves, Holbeach Bank and Sutton Bridge Reserves beaten by Thorpe Wood (2-0), ICA Sports B (1-0) and Stanground Sports (5-0) respectively.

In Division Five, Tom Cherry and Robert Lewsley struck to earn Holbeach United A a 2-1 win over FC Peterborough.
