Traffic passing through a village is being monitored by police thanks to its primary school pupils.
Last term, Year 5 and 6 children in Elm Class at Weston Hills CE Primary School wrote to Sir John Hayes MP to express their concerns and offer solutions to a range of issues including plastic pollution, deforestation, Brexit, meat production, animal welfare, gun crime and road safety.
Sir John replied to the pupils and one letter by Findlay Stamp about speeding was passed on to the local police chief who visited the school for a road safety talk.
A school spokesman said: “As a direct result of this the police are now collecting data of car speeds near Weston Hills School to help them improve road safety in our community.
“We are very proud that we have pupils who not only care about their world and the community they live in, but are willing to take action to improve things.”
