Spalding United romped to a pre-season victory over perennial rivals Holbeach United on Saturday, while Pinchbeck United also enjoyed a big derby win and Moulton Harrox earned a decent draw.
Starting with South Holland’s big two, it was Spalding who handed Holbeach a 4-1 home reverse to lift the Lincolnshire Free Press Trophy at Carter’s Park.
Goals from Lewis Brownhill and Joel Brownhill, plus a brace from a triallist, settled the contest in the Tulips’ favour.
Both sides new must dust themselves down and prepare for midweek FA Cup clashes, with Lewis Thorogood’s Spalding hosting Barton Town Old Boys on Tuesday (7.45pm) and Phil Barnes’ Tigers welcoming Kirby Muxloe on Wednesday (7.45pm).
Meanwhile, Pinchbeck eased to a 4-0 triumph over Bourne Town as they finished third in the trophy.
Doubles from Corey Kingston and a triallist go the job done for the managerless Knights, in a game switched to Milking Nook Drove due to the heavy rain.
Pinchbeck now look to Wednesday night’s FA Cup date with St Neots Town (7.45pm).
Elsewhere, Moulton Harrox battled out a 3-3 draw at Uhlsport UCL Premier Division side Peterborough Northern Star as their encouraging pre-season continued.
