Exciting triple signing for Spalding United on eve of the new season

Spalding United announced three big signings on Monday as they ramped up their preparations for the new season.

The Tulips have landed experienced striker Spencer Weir-Daley, formerly of Boston United, on dual forms from Peterborough Sports.

Weir-Daley netted twice in Spalding’s 4-1 win over Holbeach United on Saturday playing as a ‘triallist’.

Also playing as a triallist in that fixture was Shane Clarke, with the former Lincoln City and Boston United midfielder also agreeing terms at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.

Completing the trio of new captures is midfielder George Zuerner, who is a more familiar face for Tulips fans.

He left the club last season for Skegness Town, but was also with the Spalding squad at Carter’s Park and has agreed a return.

All three could be involved in Tuesday night’s Emirates FA Cup clash with Barton Town Old Boys (Sir Halley, 7.45pm).
