A pigeon poo problem at Spalding Station is getting people into a flap – with one volunteer calling for more nets to be erected.
Jan Whitbourn has been volunteering to help brighten up the area in recent months.
She’s been watering the plants every day and recently organised for two murals to be created there.
But one area is out of her control – pigeon poo.
Jan is urging people who also believe it’s a problem to contact East Midlands Trains asking for more protection from the birds nesting in the historic building.
Some nets have already recently been put in, but she says more are needed.
“Something needs to be done about this terrible mess,” Jan said. “It’s unhygienic and a health hazard as well as being very unpleasant. I have been painting the walls on platform two and I got dumped on, needless to say I was fuming.
“I have got the company who are contracted to work at the station to put up netting in two places, but it’s moved the problem.”
Areas that still need covering are the entrance to the stairs from platform one and the entrance to platform two from downstairs.
An East Midlands Railway spokesman said: “We are aware of the issue and our facilities team is looking at the feasibility of putting up further preventative netting.”
