Man arrested on suspicion of murder after woman’s body found at Spalding property

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman’s body was found when police forced their way into a Spalding property last night (Tuesday, November 26).

Lincolnshire Police say they attended an address on Winsover Road at 7.30pm yesterday (Tuesday) following a report of a concern for a woman.

The area between Winsover Road and the Victoria Street Car Park, including much of Short Street, was cordoned off by them last night.

Local residents heard the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance landing in the car park shortly after 9pm.

A police spokesman said this morning: “We attended an address on Winsover Road, Spalding at 7.30pm on Tuesday, November 26 following a call reporting concerns for the safety of a woman.

“On arrival officers forced entry to the property and sadly found the body of a woman. A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

“The investigation is in its early stages and we ask people not to speculate on the circumstances of this incident. Our officers will be in the area for the next few days while the investigation continues. We will update with more information when we can.

“We understand this may be an unsettling time for local residents and people who know the victim or live in the area. Please get in touch with the local Neighbourhood Policing Team if you would like to talk to them.

“Anyone who has information that can help with our inquiries should contact the Force Control Room on 101. Please refer to incident 332 of 26 November.”

This article has been edited. In their statement, Lincolnshire Police initially said they attended at 4.45pm but they have since amended it to say it was ‘after 7.30pm’.
