Police reveal identity of female found on railway line

Police have revealed the name of the woman who they believe was found on the railway line at Spalding over the weekend.

 
They believe the body discovered on the track in Green Lane, Spalding, is that of Bahrathi Palanisamy.

 
The 28-year-old was reported missing prior to her body being discovered.

 
She is described as an Asian female, 5ft 3ins tall, with long dark hair. At the time she was wearing a blue coat and dark blue jeans with black trainers.

 
The police are treating the death as unexplained and are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen Bahrathi or anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area of the railway near to Green Lane or St John’s Road in Spalding between the times of 8pm on Friday, October 7, and 8.25am on Saturday, October 8.

 
If anyone has any information they should call Lincolnshire Police and quote Incident 95 08/10/16.

 
A statement by the British Transport Police was also issued after the incident at the weekend.

 
It said: “Shortly before 8.20am on Saturday, we were called to the line close to Green Lane, Spalding, after reports a person was struck by a train.

 
“Officers from British Transport Police and Lincolnshire Police attended alongside paramedics however a 28-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

 
“Her family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

 
“The woman’s death continues to be treated as unexplained while officers from BTP and Lincolnshire Police examine how she came to be on the tracks.

 
“A post mortem examination is due to take place later this week.

 
“Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to contact BTP by sending a text to 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 127 of 08/09/2016.
