Work on Dozens Bank at Pode Hole has been suspended.
The road has been the subject of temporary traffic lights since last November.
Anglian Water carried out works last month and it was currently due to be closed for month between between the Crown Hall Farm and Lake Ross Caravan Park as Lincolnshire County Council complete the works.
But that’s now on hold and the road is accessible but with temporary lights back in place.
Coun Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: “Anglian Water has recently completed the installation of their new water connection at Dozens Bank.
“However, because the current road has a steel mesh under it, a specialist sub-contractor is needed to excavate it. Unfortunately, our main contractor for the scheme, Balfour Beatty, has had difficulties finding a company to carry this work out.
“As a result, we’ve had to temporarily postpone our works here. As soon as we have new dates and details finalised and confirmed, we will share them.
“In the meantime, I want to thank everyone for their patience, despite this confusion. But please rest assured that this work will be carried out as soon as possible.”
