Plan for day to celebrate town river

A new day to celebrate the River Welland in Spalding is being planned for next summer.

Coun James Le Sage told a recent meeting of the Spalding Town Forum that he was in talks with a landowner about creating an access to the river for the day.
“I’ll have a chat to them about getting a ramp into the river,” he said. “The nearest one is at Crowland which is obviously a very long way away. There’s one at the Yacht Club but you have to be a member.
“We’re going to attempt to have a water day next summer, getting people on to the rivers on boats, kayaks, etc, just to show what a positive impact having more watercraft on the river will have.
“We hope the water will be deep enough to do it.”
