Pinchbeck still in search of first victory

Landlords Sleaford Town claimed the United Counties League bragging rights on Tuesday.

They beat Pinchbeck United 4-0 to leave their tenants still looking for a win after three games of the Division One season.

Two late goals condemned Pinchbeck to defeat at Dronfield Town on Saturday.

JJ Ward set Brenden Parker free to put the Knights ahead after 16 minutes and that looked to be enough to claim all the points. However, with 11 minutes to go, the hosts pulled one back and grabbed a winner in stoppage time.

Knights coach Chris Wheaton said: “Our first-half performance was superb. We pressed well, held our shape when we needed to, scored a great counter attacking goal from a quick free-kick and should have added to our tally.

The second half didn’t pan out the way we wanted or expected and we let Dronfield use their strengths at set-pieces.”

Knights (v Dronfield): Pipes, Gordon, Balding, Panton, Cranfield, Williams, Mead (Garner), Melson, Parker (Shinn), Young, Ward. Att: 112.
