Pilot error led to Cessna crash landing at Fenland Airfield

A Cessna Skyhawk plane suffered landing gear and propellor damage on landing at Holbeach St Johns.

The 53-year-old pilot aborted her flight from Fenland Airfield and returned due to worsening weather.

A report into the incident on September 18 last year said: “She flared the aircraft for landing about one third of the way along the runway.
“The aircraft bounced and the nose landing gear subsequently struck the ground and collapsed. The pilot attributed the bounced landing to an error of judgement at the point of flare.”

Neither the pilot nor passenger were injured.
