PDFL round-up: Joy of six for Holbeach United Reserves as Ketton are crushed

Holbeach United Reserves lit up the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division on Saturday with a sensational 6-0 success over Ketton.

Louis Steadman helped himself to a double for Phil Barnes’ charges at Carter’s Park, with Reif Clarke, Callum Davies, Kieron McConnell and Liam Mead also getting in on the act.

The Tigers remain fourth in the table, but are now just seven points off top spot.

That’s because leaders Moulton Harrox collapsed to a 5-0 defeat at mid-table Stamford Lions and are now just four points clear at the summit.

After going unbeaten in the first 15 league games of the season, Harrox have now lost two on the spin – shipping nine goals in the process.

Their cause wasn’t helped by Ash Elderkin’s red card, either.

Staying in the top flight, strikes from Connor Bell (2) and Calvin Bird earned Long Sutton Athletic a 3-3 draw at Whittlesey Athletic, while Tydd went down 1-0 at home to Oakham United.

There was also a 5-1 home loss for Sutton Bridge United against ICA Sports, despite Craig Pack’s consolation.

In Division One, goals from Bobby Patterson and Ryan Wheeler steered Moulton Harrox Reserves to a much-needed 2-1 home triumph over Kings Cliffe.

Elsewhere, strikes from Tom Coote and Charlie Ford couldn’t stop Spalding Town losing 4-2 at Oundle Town and Crowland Town were beaten 2-0 at Stamford Belvedere.

In Division Two, the South Holland derby between Spalding Athletic and Whaplode Drove was a rout.

Drove were 9-1 winners at the Castle, with Harry Grigas (4), Jamie Lee Steward (2), Josh Ling, Joe Strickland and Danny Firth finding the target. Jordan Nicholls got the consolation.
