Table-topping Moulton Harrox were handed their first ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division defeat of the season on Saturday as Whittlesey Athletic thrashed them 4-0.
After going 15 games without a defeat in the league, goals from Matthew Heron (2), Jamie Darlow and Dave Kilby handed Kev Nottingham’s charges a heavy beating.
Despite the defeat, Moulton remain very much the team to beat and stay seven points clear ahead of this Saturday’s trip to Stamford Lions (2pm).
The score was also 4-0 as second-placed Netherton United saw off Holbeach United Reserves at The Grange.
The defeat sees Phil Barnes’ side drop to fifth in the standings.
Long Sutton Athletic also shipped four goals at home as they went down 4-2 against Stamford Lions, while Sutton Bridge United were beaten 4-1 at Langtoft United despite David Abbott’s strike.
Indeed, the only South Holland side to win in the top flight was Tydd.
They picked up a 3-1 success at Ketton thanks to goals from Joe Reed (2) and Daniel Monaghan.
In Division One, a goal from Alex Lyon couldn’t stop Spalding Town from losing 2-1 at Uppingham Town.
Meanwhile, Crowland Town edged a seven-goal thriller at Bretton North End as Ashton Capes’s double clinched a 4-3 success.
Jordan Kirchin and Stephen Wells got the other goals as Crowland climbed into the top ten.
There was also seven goals as Moulton Harrox Reserves slipped to a 4-3 home loss against Wittering Harriers. Chris Beale and Martin Sandall were among the goals for Harrox, who fall into the bottom three.
In Division Two, Spalding Athletic finally got their first win of the season as they beat Langtoft Reserves 2-1 at the Castle. Daniel Abayomi and Ben Mansour netted for them.
In Division Three, Holbeach Bank were seen off 3-2 at home by Uppingham Reserves and Long Sutton Reserves went down 3-1 at Thorpe Wood.
Down in Division Four, Billy Jay Barnes and Liam Mead both bagged twice as Holbeach Sports crushed Whittlesey B 8-4.
