Declan Earth helped himself to a hat-trick in a thumping derby victory for Moulton Harrox Reserves against Crowland Town on Saturday.
The all-South Holland clash in the ChromaSport PDFL’s Challenge Cup was a one-sided affair, with Harrox romping to a 5-0 victory.
Earth, who has stepped up to the first team this season, netted a treble on his return to the second string at Broad Lane, while Jake Farrell and Nigel Steadman also notched.
In the same competition, Division One side Spalding Town eased to a 3-0 victory at Wittering Harriers.
A double strike from Ashley Wilson and a Robbie Cundy effort settled that showdown.
Up in the Premier Division, Holbeach United enjoyed an impressive 3-2 victory at Peterborough ICA Sports.
Louis Steadman, Alex Richardson and Jonny Allen all found the net for Phil Barnes’ side, who secured their second win of the season.
Andy Moss hit a double for ICA, who had Taylor Hunter sent off on the hour.
There were slim pickings for the other South Holland sides, however.
Basement side Long Sutton Athletic suffered their fifth defeat from as many games after going down 4-0 at previously winless Langtoft United.
Tom Lancaster’s treble inspired the hosts at Manor Way, leaving the Magpies a little dumbstruck.
Fellow promoted side Tydd suffered an even heavier loss, with champions Netherton United walloping them 6-1 at The Grange.
Jake Clitheroe’s eighth goal in five games this season was scant consolation for them.
Completing a winless Saturday for the top tier sides were Sutton Bridge United, who went down 2-0 at home to Thorney.
Liam Merryweather and Matthew Oliver sank Bridge at Memorial Park.
Down in Division Two, newly-formed Spalding Athletic went down 2-0 at Cardea in their first game of the season.
In Division Three, Long Sutton Athletic cruised to a super 6-3 win over Stamford Belvedere Reserves as Mark Garner (2), Sam Thompson (2), Marcus Gilbertson and Shane Millar all netted.
In the same division, a goal from Warren Skeels earned Holbeach Bank an opening day point in their 1-1 draw with Whittlesey Athletic A.
In Division Four, a solitary strike from James Woods gave Tydd Reserves a 1-0 triumph over Netherton United A.
There was also a 4-3 win for Holbeach United Sports over Kings Cliffe Reserves, with Harry Burchnall (2), Harry Collishaw and Liam Scales all netting.
