PDFL returns this weekend

The Peterborough and District League is back this weekend.

Now under the sponsorship of GCE Hire Fleet, four South Holland sides will be battling it out in the Premier Division.
Moulton Harrox will be in the hunt for silverware again, now under the leadership of Simon Black.
Last year’s League Cup winners finished runners up to Uppingham Town in the league last time around and will be looking to go one better.
For the new season they’ve brought in forward Nathan Smith from Stanground Sports and midfielder Adam Richardson, who has previously been at Peterborough Sports and Deeping United.
Crowland Town finished an impressive fourth last year and will be looking again towards the top of the table.
Their young player Joe Cole has made the move to Deeping Rangers after impressing in his first season and a half since making his debut for Crowland.
Another team who impressed last season and reached a cup final were Holbeach United Reserves.
They lost just seven times in the league last season and will be hoping to turn a few draws into wins.
There will be 17 teams in this year’s Premier Division with Tydd joining them and looking to improve on last year’s 15th placed finish.
In Division One, Long Sutton Athletic and Holbeach United Sports will be among those looking to challenge towards the top.
Sutton Bridge United and Crowland Town Reserves will join Whaplode Drove Rovers and Tydd Reserves in Division Two while the stiffs of Whaplode and Long Sutton Athletics are in Division Three.
South Lincolnshire Swifts have moved to Division Four this year and will be playing home games at Moulton Seas End.
They’ll be up against Moulton Harrox Reserves in the same division who should be very strong.
This year the Peterborough League has also launched a Sunday League with former Spalding Sunday League sides including CSKA Emneth and South Holland United making the move over alongside a new Crowland Town Sunday. It gets underway in September.
