It was another great weekend for Holbeach United Reserves as they moved up to second in the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division with a 2-1 derby win at Long Sutton Athletic.
Goals from Joshua Ling and Joe Millinson steered the Tigers to a Saturday success, with Ryan Alexander replying for Sutton.
Both sides had players sent off at London Road, with Jake Lally and Luke Nicholson given their marching orders.
South Holland’s other top tier sides were in Lincs Junior Cup action – and both won handsomely.
Moulton Harrox romped to a 5-0 home triumph over Nettleham at Broad Lane, while Crowland Town collected a 4-0 success at Deeping United.
Moulton’s goals came from Ian Bradbury (2), Declan Earth, Luke Gardner and Reif Clarke.
Joint boss Bobby Patterson said: “Asked the lads to turn up and deliver in the Lincs Cup, a competition we at Moulton have great history in and respect for.
“A 5-0 win! Really proud of the lads.”
Danny Firth’s treble for Crowland was the highlight there.
Staying in the county cup, Crowland Town Reserves beat hosts Tydd Reserves 5-3 in a derby thriller. Kyle Davis (2) and Ben Gibbons scored in vain for Tydd.
Pinchbeck United Reserves also progressed with a 3-1 home triumph over Scamblesby, with Musa Conteh, Ryan Wheeler and Rowan Woodward all netting.
But it’s the end of the road for Holbeach Bank’s PDFL side, who were beaten 2-0 at Park United.
Meanwhile, Holbeach Sports are into the top ten in Division Two after Jack Greenacre’s goal earned them a 1-0 win at Oakham United Reserves.
They are now above Long Sutton Reserves, who slipped up 5-2 at Stanground Sports despite strikes from Jak Turner and Ryan Cousins.
The most remarkable game of the week came in Division Five, however.
It’s not often a side scores eight in a game and still loses, but that’s exactly what happened to Pinchbeck United A.
They were defeated 9-8 at Nene Park Feeder, for who Lewis Bradley bagged a hat-trick,
