Patrick’s prize winning poster

A Year Eight student at The Thomas Cowley High School has taken the first step to becoming an internationally recognised artist by winning a local competition sponsored by Spalding Lions club.

Patrick Delaney’s poster for peace has been crowned the local winner of the 30th annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest.

He is one of 600,000 entries submitted worldwide in the contest to emphasise the importance of world peace to young people everywhere.

Patrick’s entry will now go on to the regional round and he hopes to progress on the world competition.

Inspiring his entry was Patrick’s quote: “Sometimes you just have to make peace with your past in order to keep your future from becoming a constant battle.”

The poster was selected by the judges for its originality, artistic merit and portrayal of the contest theme The Future of Peace.

Donington student Patrick received £75 worth of Amazon vouchers as well as a certificate of excellence from The Lions Club Voucher.
