Party time at Pinchbeck Carnival

PF1_6329 (1)smallPinchbeck got into the party mood at the weekend with what many thought was the “best carnival parade” the village has seen.

Schools, pre-schools, children’s groups and dancing and music groups joined the Cities of the World-themed parade through the streets, led by the carnival queen and princesses, for the highlight of the weekend.

More people than ever joined the pre-carnival bingo on Friday and Rotten Row field was buzzing as the party carried on after the parade – hosted by Tulip Radio – with displays of dancing, trampolining, Zumba, as well as onion rolling and head balancer John Evans.

The 33-time Guinness World Record holder balanced various things on his head, including a Mini.

Raffles, charity stalls and children’s rides also entertained visitors.

Jane Amess, of the organising committee, said: “A few people said to me that they thought it was the best carnival parade they had seen.

“The field was very busy and there was a nice atmosphere.

“A lot of people came back at night to see Bad to the Bone and we had an enjoyable Sunday lunch, quiz and raffle.”

Float winners were: 1st Brownies; 2nd Rainbows; 3rd Guides. Stall winners were: 1st RSPCA; 2nd Highfield Snip & Tuck; 3rd Pinchbeck Baptist Church.

In the craft competition the WI Salver for best adult entry was won by Ruth Schofield and Megan Wyatt won the Jean Russell Memorial Trophy for the best child entry.
