Parker comes off bench to score

Life in the Thurlow Nunn League began in exciting fashion for Pinchbeck United at the Sir Halley Stewart Field on Saturday.

Twice they led at home to Wivenhoe Town but needed a last-minute goal from substitute Brenden Parker to grab a share of the spoils with a 3-3 draw.
A long-range effort from Ben Howlett gave the hosts a first-minute lead but Taylor Warden quickly levelled for the Essex side.
Flynn Slater’s shot was turned in by Logan Tate to restore the Pinchbeck advantage, only for the visitors to equalise before half time through Harry Miller.
Finley Hughes gave Wivenhoe the lead for the first time but was sent off soon after and the 10 men could not hold on as Parker fired in the
last-gasp equaliser.
The Knights face a lengthy trek on Saturday for their first away game since being relegated from the United Counties League Premier Division into Division One North of the Eastern Counties League, taking on Stanway Pegasus.
The Essex side groundshare with Coggeshall Town, meaning a 210-mile round trip for manager Lewis Thorogood and his team, who will be up against the UK’s highest-ranked female manager in the men’s game, Rosi Webb.
Knights: Brooks, Fields, Howlett, Kiss, Martin, Melson, Sheriff, Slater, Stevens, Tate, Vieira. Subs (all used): Nyang, Parker, A Wallace,
H Wallace, Ward.
Attendance: 54.
