A revamped village war memorial is to be rededicated on Easter Saturday.
A special parade through Pinchbeck will take place as part of the service on Saturday, April 8, which will also double as the Royal British Legion’s annual rededication parade for Lincolnshire.
It follows a £9,000 clean up of the area by Pinchbeck Parish Council.
The village’s branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) has persuaded officials to hold the county parade and service at the church and work on the rededication of the memorial itself afterwards.
The parade will muster at the Pinchbeck hub at 1.30pm and will march at 2pm for a church service starting half-an-hour later.
The Lord-Lieutenant of Lincolnshire Toby Dennis will be in attendance.
Alan Canham, chairman of the Pinchbeck branch of the RBL, also county committee member and standard bearer, said: “We thought it was the ideal opportunity to put on something a bit bigger than the usual rededication event in Pinchbeck. It’s years since the last time it was held in Pinchbeck and we needed to also do one for our revamped memorial, so why not put them together and get a larger crowd?
“The original war memorial was redecorated on Easter Sunday over 100 year ago on the same weekend.
“There will be a pipe and drum band, standard bearers, RBL members, veterans, cadets and youth groups and anyone that wants to join in.
“Hopefully we’ll get a few villagers out; the more the merrier.”
The event will finish with a drinks reception in the church hall.
