Over 55s have wind in sails

A group of local over 55s took to the water recently to try their hand at dinghy sailing for the first time at Welland Yacht Club in Spalding.

The first-time sailors joined instructors from the club for a fun, free sailing taster session which was part of First Time for Everything, a programme designed by Royal Voluntary Service to support physical and mental health and wellbeing and is supported by The People’s Lottery.

Keith Ratcliff enjoyed the dinghy sailing evening. He said: “It was a good introduction to sailing and really good fun. It is definitely something I would like to pursue further.”

The next local First Time for Everything event will be Singing in Springfields Festival Gardens, Spalding, led by local singing teacher, Anjiel Clarke, on Saturday, September 24 from 2-4pm.

No singing experience necessary.
