Organiser says festival will be the biggest yet

South Holland businessman Matt Clark has taken on the running of the Spalding Festival this year which returns on May 24 and 26.

The Spalding and District Round Table and Spalding Ladies Circle run event is a staple on the calendar and huge charity fundraiser.
Matt Clark whose numerous boxing events have raised well in excess of £100,000 in the process says he has been a driving force of the festival since its inception, holding the post of deputy events organiser and premises license holder since day one.
Matt will serve his last year with the Round Table due to an age restriction, said: “I simply couldn’t go out without adding my own stamp on our current fundraising event.
“We have a great team on board and we are focused on delivering the biggest fundraiser in Lincolnshire and I hope to leave a legacy for future years.
The event has grown year- on-year and is planned to be all held outside this time.
Among the attractions confirmed for the Castle Sport field in Spalding are fun rides, themed bars (including real ale concessions from quality brewers and Spalding’s Imaginarium bar horse box), street food vendors and sweet stalls, carnival games, glitter and face painters, festival clothing stalls, arts and craft stands, circus entertainers, charity stands, robots, performances from local school groups, musical and dance artists.
Promoter Arc will look after the dance arena that will be around for the first time this year and to be called Cadence.
“This area will be enhanced by work from graffiti artists and the arena as spectacular lighting, sound and video as any nightclub,” Matt said. “There is also a new community stage, which will have a chic village carnival feel adorned with bunting and straw bales, alongside kiddie rides and cinema screen, and our main stage is going to be fantastic and hosting much bigger acts than ever before.
“There is an emphasis on ensuring this is a family and community event.”
Tickets are £10.50 per person for those aged 14 and over, with under-14s free.
First release tickets have sold out but second release tickets, offering £10 off the weekend package, will be on sale until April 28, or when the allocation is filled.
Tickets are available on the festival website, www.spaldingfestival.co.uk
The organising committee is also now welcoming any volunteers who want to help out on the gate, the bar, the token sales, or stewarding throughout the weekend with an application form also on the website.
Sponsorship of the event is also available, and while many of the incumbent supporters, including Bakkavor as main sponsors have again confirmed their support, due to the increase in size there are additional opportunities still available for local businesses and barrel sponsorship.
Interested parties can email m.clark@
