Donations made following the death of a former Spalding woman during a charity cycle ride have topped more than £21,000.

Sally Preece, whose parents Terry and Judy Wing still live in Spalding, was killed on the seventh day of the Ride Across Britain event – a nine-day charity ride from Land’s End to John O Groats.
She was cycling as part of a Lloyds Bank team aiming to raise £4,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
But more than 450 donations flooded in to her www.justgiving.com page after she was hit by a car on Friday, September 12, and later died from her injuries in hospital.

A funeral service for Sally (49), who lived in Cheltenham with her husband and two teenage children, will be held in her home town on Tuesday.

Following her death, Jeremy Hughes, chief executive of Alzheimer’s Society, paid tribute, saying: “Our thoughts are with Sally’s family at this difficult time.
“By choosing to fundraise for Alzheimer’s Society, Sally was helping to improve the lives of people with dementia.
“We desperately wish that it was not under these extremely sad circumstances that we are commending her support.”
