On-song Moulton Harrox never needed to get out of second gear to book final at Sincil Bank

Moulton Harrox eased into the final of the Lincs FA Junior Cup with a routine 5-0 victory over Sleaford Sports on Saturday.

Billed as strong favourites, Harrox had the Broad Lane semi-final wrapped up inside the opening 30 minutes thanks to strikes from Joe Townsend (18), Bobby Patterson (21) and Marcus Parry (29).

Although they took their foot off the gas a little after the break, Townsend (80) and sub Danny Lambe-Hyner (90) completed the scoring to secure a trip to Sincil Bank in the final.

Four-times winners Moulton will go into the showpiece as big favourites, too, with Boston League side Coningsby their surprise opposition.

Coningsby have already lost to Long Sutton Athletic and Wyberton in the competition, but have twice been reinstated.

Harrox’s Stuart Manning admitted that the scoreline did not flatter the hosts on Saturday.

He said: “I don’t think we really needed to get out of second gear.

“We scored from probably our first decent attack and didn’t look back. Once it went 3-0, you could see that we took our foot off the gas a little.

“But to win any semi-final 5-0 isn’t to be sniffed at and we’re delighted to be in the final again.

“Obviously we’ll be, on paper at least, favourites against Coningsby.

“But we’ll do our homework and make sure we’re as well prepared as we possibly can be.”

Moulton, who were knocked off the top of the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division table by Netherton United on Saturday, are in PFA Senior Cup quarter-final action this Saturday. They host

PDFL Premier Division strugglers Deeping Rangers Reserves (2pm) and will again be strong favourites to progress.

Moulton’s Reserves, who lead the way in Division One, are back in league action when they make the trip to Netherton United Reserves (2pm).

Harrox: Wilding, McGuire, Johnson, Coddington, Patterson, Cawthorne, King, L Steadman (Watkin 75), Townsend (Relf 85), Bradbury, Parry (Lambe-Hyner 50). Not used: Earth, Sandall.

Attendance: 96.
