Last year’s Young Achiever of the Year has urged others to nominate others for the Pride of South Holland Award.
Jack Wheatley, of Spalding Grammar School, was presented the award, sponsored by Molsom’s Opticians, for his work in the community, particularly with the Spalding Community Choir.
“It was very humbling to win the award last year and I was grateful to those who had nominated me in recognition for work in school and the community,” Jack said. “The award has given me a renewed sense of aspiration to achieve the best I can, spurred on by the support of others through the award.
“That’s why I would encourage everyone to nominate someone they feel deserves praise. Winning or being nominated can make such a positive difference to someone’s life and is a fantastic way to say thank you to those who work hard in the community.”
Every year, The Spalding and South Holland Voice partner with Jan Whitbourn of Tulip Events Management, to recognise those in our community who go the extra mile.
Held at the South Holland Centre in Spalding this year’s event will take place on Sunday, June 23.
Molsom’s have been involved since the very start and will again sponsor the Young Achiever award.
Ms Whitbourn said: “Andy Molsom has done so much to help this event from the very first year, but in general has just been such a huge supporter of our town since 1997.
“My sincere thanks goes to him for everything he continues to do in our community and for our town.
“The Young Achiever Award is for those under 21 in our community who make outstanding achievements.
“It could be academical, sports, the arts or something in the community.
“Jack was the worthy winner last year.
“He’s a talented young man who is still doing so much in the community, giving his time freely and helping so many people, especially the wonderful local talented choir we have in the town which is run by Zeph Churchill.
“If you know a young person in our community who deserves recognition, please send us as much information as possible about them to [email protected].”
