Night to forget for Knights as they concede five

It was a night to forget for Pinchbeck United in the United Counties League on Tuesday against Retford United at Eslaforde Park.

The Knights made a disastrous start, conceding twice in the opening eight minutes to their title-chasing visitors and went on to lose 5-1.

Retford scored again soon after the break and wrapped things up with two more goals inside two minutes in the last ten minutes before Luke Cullen hit a last-minute consolation for the hosts with a rasping 20-yard drive into the top corner of the net.

Pinchbeck had two new signings on the bench – former League of Ireland player Matthew Drought, and Cameron Rankin, who joined on loan from Blackstones.

Knights: Martin (Douce), Akyüz (O’Connor), Hill, Melson, Brooks, Turunen (Drought), Foster, Shinn (Ward), Slater, Balding, Cullen. Subs: Rankin.
