Crowland ready for away days

Crowland Town marked their last match at Snowden Field until April with a 4-1 victory over Whittlesey Athletic in the Premier Division of the GCE Hire Fleet Peterborough League.

The vagaries of the fixture list have thrown them a run of nine consecutive away games, plus a county cup trip to Skegness Town, over the next 11 weeks, before they complete the season with five home matches.

Harry Grigas (2), Archie Rickards and Harry Tidswell were on target to leave Crowland four points off leaders Netherton United but with two games in hand.

Cam Lee’s 20-yard effort put Long Sutton Athletic ahead at Yaxley Reserves in Division One but the hosts hit back to win 2-1 and condemn Sutton to only their second defeat of the season.

A remarkable match in Division Three saw honours finish even in a 12-goal thriller between Whaplode Drove Rovers Reserves and FC Peterborough Development. Whaplode trailed 3-1 at half-time but turned things around to lead 6-4 before being pulled back to draw 6-6. Their scorers were William Knight 2, Adrian-Cosmin Velea 2 Scott Beale and Tom Flatters.

Brad Appleby was on target for Littleport United in a 4-1 defeat at Leverington Sports Development in Division Four.
