A Spalding man who had just got engaged to his partner, then made the ‘poor decision’ to
drive to tell his friend and drive home after drinking alcohol.
Prosecuting at Boston Magistrates Court, Marie Stace told District Judge Peter Veits that Stanislavs
Slisans’ Volvo car was found stationery and apparently broken down in the middle of Alexandra Road on
March 2, after it was believed to have hit a kerb.
Slisans, 42, of Saxon Close, who admitted the offence, told the police that he had had five beers before
driving his car.
After a positive breath test, he was found to have an alcohol reading of 104 microgrammes in his breath,
the legal limit being 35.
Mitigating, Beris Brickles said that that evening Slisans had proposed to his partner and, after she had accepted him, drove to tell his friend and they had a few drinks before he drove home.
He said the car hit a kerb and effectively the wheel broke off.
Judge Veits said it was ‘clearly a poor decision’.
“You could have ended up killing or injuring someone,” he said.
Slisans was fined £300 and ordered to pay £119 in court costs and charges.
He was banned from driving for two years but was offered the drink drivers’ rehabilitation course which
will reduce the period of the ban by 24 weeks.
