This powerful new cleaning machine is being used by South Holland District Council in the fight against litter on our streets.
The Glutton vacuum is highly effective at cleaning up cigarette butts, drinks bottles and chewing gum. A pavement sweeper is also being used in conjunction with the Glutton machine to clear dirt from walkways.
The electric and silent machine is initially being trialled for three months.
Coun Roger Gambba-Jones, portfolio holder for waste management, said: “We’re confident that the Glutton machine will prove extremely effective at clearing litter from our streets. It has been used by other local authorities across the country and has already met with positive acclaim.
“Our small street cleaning team do an excellent job, but we’re always looking for ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the service and support our determination to make the district a clean and enjoyable place to live.”
