New veterinary clinic on cards for Holbeach

Up to six new jobs will be created when a veterinary centre opens a second site.

Sutterton Veterinary Centre has applied for permission to turn the former NatWest bank in West End, Holbeach, into a clinic.

Plans have gone into South Holland District Council and staff at the centre are expecting a decision by September 9.

If permission is granted it’s hoped that the new centre will open in the New Year.

It will create positions for one or two vets, nurses and reception staff – five or six new jobs in total.

Head nurse Emma Walker said: “This is an exciting time for us.

“It’s a fantastic building and it has a car park which is really important for us.

“With plans for 900 new homes in Holbeach, we felt it was the perfect place for our second branch.”

“As well as the plans for Holbeach, we are applying for Hospital Status for the centre at Sutterton.

“It means the centre will be staffed 24/7, rather than just having someone on call.

“The nearest vets with Hospital Status at the moment are in Lincoln and King’s Lynn, so it will be a big thing for us if we are awarded it.

“Hopefully we’ll know if we are successful by the New Year.”

The centre is holding a fun day at the Sutterton clinic (which is just off Sutterton roundabout) on Sunday.

The event runs from 11am to 4pm and all money raised during the day will be donated to local animal charities.

Attractions will include a dog show, a raffle and games and visitors will have a chance to look around the centre and meet the staff.
